Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day in Glendale 2015 AUG
On 8/1/15, ten SoCal Pankow Warriors and friends braved the heat and humidity for another Habitat volunteer day at the Chestnut Home Project in Glendale. Our tasks for the day included installing wall blocking, installing window headers and sill framing, and building/erecting misc walls all at the 3rd Level of Unit #1. The project is moving along very well; two of the homes have roofing installed, and the MEP rough-in trades are working in all 3 homes. Habitat's goal is to have the homes complete by the end of 2015. Thank you Pankow for the lunch, snacks, and beverages to keep us going throughout the day!
At the end of our volunteer day Amanda Gallagher stayed behind and participated in the Chestnut Home Stud Signing Ceremony where various community members, donors, board members, and the selected Habitat families all had the opportunity to write inspirational messages on the stud wall framing/sheathing in the 3 homes. It was very heartwarming to watch the children write blessings on the walls of their future rooms that they will soon be able to move into.
