Built for Connection
Caltech Hameetman Center, Pasadena, CA
Pankow Builders utalized Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) to create a multi-level student hub that includes a new indoor/outdoor lounge, a musical rehearsal hall for a 100-member orchestra, a multi-purpose room, multiple student-club spaces, and a revamped café—a true heart of campus. The building engages on all four sides to activate campus life, was delivered with minimal disruption to an active university, and reflects Caltech’s sustainable values
Where Campus Life Converges
The Hameetman Center is conceived as Caltech’s social catalyst—an inviting, flexible place where students and faculty gather, rehearse, study, perform, and recharge. Through IPD, the team aligned vision, budget, and operations to deliver spaces that blur indoor-outdoor boundaries, connect activities to every façade, and energize the surrounding campus. The result is a dynamic, student-centered environment that supports collaboration, creativity, and day-to-day campus life.
IPD enabled Pankow to deliver a vibrant student-life hub while minimizing disruption to an active campus.
