Technology Solutions Architect

What You'll Be Doing:

Primary Accountabilities (30% Plan, 35% Build, 35% Run)

Strategy & Planning

  • Support the design and implementation of long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining enterprise systems and software
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems’ architectures and technical components are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Provide architectural and systems administration expertise, direction, and assistance across technology stakeholders
  • Develop, document, and communicate existing and planned investments in systems and architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of improvement efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
  • Support strategic IT planning including budget, resources, and technical product roadmap to ensure a rolling 3-year outlook for the department

Technical Support & Development

  • Serve as escalation point of contact for technical issues with hands-on support as needed to increase DTS efficiency and ensure timely issue resolution and systems performance tuning
  • Train and support tier 1 and tier 2 support team members as they provide technology support across the enterprise
  • Contribute to regular maintenance, patching, and compliance checks and audits
  • Own the technical design and implementation for new technology standards, including determining workload requirements, data migration and integration specifications, business continuity preparation, and security controls enactment
  • Engage with select third party vendors to achieve service and technical performance outcomes
  • Participate in change control process ensuring quality planning, documentation, implementation details, and standards updates
  • Create enterprise architecture and system administration documentation standards and templates
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours emergency support on evenings and weekends as required to achieve service-level agreements

Product Management

  • Drive the end-to-end life cycle of key technology or infrastructure products ensuring they are effective across the enterprise; planning, maintaining, and enhancing as required
  • Own one or more critical enterprise infrastructure components, such as Azure Infrastructure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Database, Integration Platform, Networking, Firewall or other technical assets
  • Assist in the design, identification, and development of procedural training activities supporting end-user learning and issue prevention across enterprise products
  • Partner with senior operations management to conduct product and service reviews to ensure field-based tools are positioned to increase construction productivity
  • Maintain familiarity with industry trends and developments in order to recommend new technology for improving quality and/or efficiency of operations

Secondary Accountabilities

  • Project management, delivery practices, and development
  • Service-level management support to minimize SLA breaches in accordance with operating standards
  • End-user computing support to internal customer endpoints and devices
  • Analytics, reporting, master data management (MDM) philosophy and initiatives

About YOU:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline
  • CompTIA A+, MS365 Microsoft Certificate Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Azure Solutions Certified Associate
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)


  • Skills and experience:
    • Excellent understanding of cloud architecture, storage, load balancing, and hybrid transition
    • Hands-on experience with core LAN/WAN network technologies
    • Experience with routing protocols, access control lists, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, VLAN’s and the OSI layer
    • Information and application security concepts, including public key encryption, identity and access management technologies, and certificate-based authentication
    • Microsoft Windows 10 – current

    • Smartsheet Project Scheduling software or equivalent

    • Database platforms including SQL Server and Oracle
    • Familiarity with SANs and NAS
    • VMware virtual machine management
    • Microsoft Azure Platform
    • Understanding of TCP/IP and networking concepts
    • Cisco AnyConnect VPN
    • Cisco Phones/CallManager to apply basic configurations for phones and VM
    • Cisco routers/switches and ability to apply basic configurations
    • Lenovo desktops/laptops and Dell servers
    • AirWatch MDM, MS Intune or equivalent mobile device management
  • Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact productively with cross-functional users and teams
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies, trends, standards, and products as required
  • Ability to follow through and deliver complex projects to successful completion

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with technology service and infrastructure configuration and management
  • Experience with an Architecture, Engineering or Construction firm is a plus
