Mike serves as Director of Preconstruction, where he guides estimating teams and aligns early project efforts with client goals and long-term success. He oversees resource planning for pursuits and supports projects from initial concept through the development of accurate budgets and buyout strategies. His responsibilities also include subcontractor relationship management, helping strengthen Pankow Builders’ trade partner network across both Northern and Southern California.
Since joining the company, Mike has brought a client-focused, analytical approach to preconstruction—identifying key project drivers and delivering solutions that balance performance, cost, and risk. He works closely with operations teams to implement project-specific preconstruction and buyout plans, ensuring clarity, consistency, and seamless execution as projects move forward.
With over a decade of estimating experience, Mike is known for his collaborative leadership and commitment to delivering value through early involvement and thoughtful planning.
Fun Facts
I love hiking, mountain biking, and backpacking, anything that gets me outdoors. I also enjoy detailing cars, eating great food, spending time with Jenna and our friends, being around dogs, and visiting family whenever I can.
Now and then, I nerd out on computer video games, and I’ve always got a hands-on home project in the works.
One of my favorite quotes is from Steve Jobs: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Most people don’t know that in grad school, I wrote a letter to Warren Buffett for a national competition—was selected, traveled to Omaha, and had lunch with him and students from around the world.
My bucket list includes climbing a famous world peak, traveling to exotic places, owning a lake house, and donating to a cause that’s truly making a difference.
