Dustin M. Smith Plays a Game of HORSE with Hall of Famer James Worthy

The Door of Hope's mission is to equip homeless families to rebuild their lives. They have two homes in Pasadena that can serve dozens of families each year and one undisclosed location serving families of domestic violence. Some Pankow employees may remember that Pankow donated over 5,000 cans of food to Door of Hope after our 2014 company-wide meeting "Can-do" competition. More recently, one Children's Playhouse was donated to Door of Hope during our 2016 Playhouse Build in Pasadena.

Dustin M. Smith of Pankow is also a volunteer and supporter of Door of Hope and attended their 30-year anniversary Gala on Feb. 20th at Noor in Paseo Colorado. Several community members donated items for auction at the Gala to help raise funds for the organization. Dustin's bid was enough to win a game of HORSE with hall of famer James Worthy at the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo. James is listed as one of the 50 best NBA players of all time - he won 3 Championships as a player and was honored as Finals MVP in 1988. Currently James is an assistant coach for the Lakers. While at the gym, Dustin met several active Lakers players and coaches prior to his competition with "Big Game" James.

The following video clip aired during the Lakers pregame show later that night, also hosted by Mr. Worthy:

Although Dustin wasn't able to upset "Big Game" James, everyone ended up a winner by helping a great organization and serving local homeless families.
