Habitat volunteer day at the Chestnut Home Project in Glendale

On 9/12/15, our group of SoCal Pankow Warriors and friends powered through the heat and humidity for another Habitat volunteer day at the Chestnut Home Project in Glendale. Our day started off with a group huddle to review Heat Illness facts and guidelines, then to explain the work activities available and assignment of group leaders. Our tasks for the day included framing a rake wall for the roof of Unit #1, framing a gable roof for the front porch of Unit #2, installation of misc blocking for the roof of Unit #1, installing exterior wall plywood, and soil grading/compaction for scissor lift access next to the houses. Our Pankow volunteers worked alongside two of the home owner families, and got to laugh, tell stories and learn more about these wonderful families who are so greatly looking forward to moving into their new homes hopefully by the end of the year. Thank you Pankow for the lunch, snacks, and beverages to keep us hydrated and energized throughout the day!
