The drive to maintain a leadership
position in the construction industry and particularly
in Design-Build has led Pankow to become one of the few
builders in the country to dedicate significant resources
for in-house research and development. Pankow's mission
is to create and improve access to emerging technology
and, where appropriate, incorporate such technologies
into future projects.
With various corporate and university sponsors, Pankow
is actively engaged in research projects with exciting
design and construction applications, including several
patented systems and jobsite automation techniques like
the revolutionary Precast
Hybrid Moment Resistant Frame (PHMRF). Design-Build
has served us well over the years as the best delivery
system for taking advantage of the dynamic output of our
research and development program. Investment in research
reaffirms Pankow's commitment to add value to every project
it undertakes, and bring innovative ideas to the process.
Pankow supports the Civil
Engineering Research Foundation (CERF)
The CERF Charles Pankow Innovation Award was established
in 1996 to complement existing industry awards. The award
recognizes organizations working collaboratively to put
innovative civil engineering ideas into practice. Charles
Pankow was instrumental in launching CERF in 1989 and
served as one of the Foundation's first Board members
and as Chairman of CERF's New Century Partnership.
