The Rotunda Building Renovation

Oakland, CA

Overview

Built in the early part of the 20th century, this building contains one of the world’s largest elliptical domes and is a registered historic landmark. There are two buildings: one structural steeland and one reinforced concrete. After suffering major damage in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, the building underwent extensive seismic repairs and upgrading to core and shell.

Tenant improvement work was concurrent to fulfill Owner’s request of “early tenant occupancy.” The building reopened as a 350,000 SF mixed-use office and retail center after having been closed for over 20 years.
