The Paramount

San Francisco, CA

Overview

The 39-story Paramount is the tallest precast concrete structure erected on the West Coast in a high seismic zone. It was built using Pankow’s innovative Precast Hybrid Moment Resistant Frame system. Completed on time and budget, the use of the structural frame as exterior skin resulted in substantial cost savings to the owner. Pankow preserved the façade of the historic Jessie Hotel built in 1912, restoring it and incorporating it into the structure of the new building. Our solution, by eliminating the need for any significant temporary structure, provided a cost savings which enabled adequate funding for the architectural restoration.
