Pankow Representative at CREW Network Convention

This year’s Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network Convention, “The Rewards of Risk,” was held at the Loews Miami Beach. CREW San Francisco had 37 representatives in attendance, including Pankow’s Corporate Communications Manager, Kristina Owyoung. She was one of four to receive a $1000 scholarship to attend the National Convention and represent the SF chapter.

Kristina is the youngest member to be elected to the CREW SF Board of Directors and will serve in 2015-2017. Senior PM Ashley Shawlee and Senior PM Clancy Simon are also members of CREW Chapters. Founded in 1989, CREW is a national real estate networking organization of nearly 9,200 members focused on the development and advancement of women in commercial real estate.

More than 1,200 attendees packed the hotel’s ballroom for keynote speaker Hillary Rodham Clinton’s speech. Clinton started off saying, “it’s incumbent upon powerful real estate groups like CREW to help “achieve parity” in the industry.” According to Clinton, the U.S. gross domestic product would grow by 10 percent over the next 16 years if the present employment and income gaps between men and women are closed.

Featured speakers included: Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media and Katty Kay, BBC World News America lead anchor and co-author of “The Confidence Code.” Experts discussed topics like new urbanism development trends, collaborative workplaces’ balance of focus and team work, retail digital marketing tools, and multifamily trends.
