Stewardship
Thinking Beyond the Building means we believe in sustainability far beyond LEED projects. Pankow is
committed to environmentally responsible construction and to be good stewards of the environment,
taking a four-pronged approach to sustainable operations:
- Resource Conservation
- Reduce Carbon Footprint
- Provide Environmental Community Outreach and Education
- Ongoing development and implementation of environmental initiatives
Most importantly, we have a passion for green that shows in our volunteer efforts, placing a high value
on participation and outreach. Pankow team members hold leadership and board positions in USGBC
chapters in Hawaii, Northern California, Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley and serve on the BOMA
Environment Committee. Pankow hosts project tours, regularly provides training and, through the
Charles Pankow Foundation, has participated in the development of the CSI GreenFormat Sustainable Product Reporting Guide, open access to completed product data forms for
building teams to use when selecting and evaluating products.
Coastal Cleanup
Pankow joined the California Coastal Cleanup Day and was part of the One Million Volunteers who picked up 953,476 Pounds of trash and an additional 146,646 pounds of recyclable materials, for a total of 1,100,122 pounds. This event is coordinated by the California Coastal Commission.
